Iraq War (first) begins.

Responding to the August 1990 invasion of Kuwait, the U.S. intervenes by sending forces to Iraq. After four days of ground combat, the U.S. declares victory. A cease fire agreement is signed on April 9, 1991, but the mission does not officially end until August 31, 2010.
